event 3 Hammer Museum

The Hammer Museum was different from the others that I visited because much of their art was what I would define as cutting edge. Many exhibits were contemporary styles with an avant-garde feel. For example, the wood palette piece I viewed caught my eye because of its simplistic concept. It was brought to life by the artist’s unique interpretation of taki
ng an uncomplicated object and completely changing the perception with shading and repetition techniques, stacking the palettes on top of each other and properly shading them.
Out of all of the museums’ artistry and activities they hold, the spinning chairs at the Hammer Museum were the most entertaining and my personal favorite, for the fun times I had spinning on them myself! The artist has taken something practical out of its element and transforming it into an interactive art form, allowing passer-byes to enjoy them visually and physically. It was an imaginative way of playing with the average mind, questioning whether or not the “chairs” could be considered art or not.
One of the most bazaar projects that I saw while at the Hammer was the video experience by the artist Mary Reid Kelley. With the use of herself as each character in her unsettling video portrayals of the Greek mythological creature the Minotaur, Kelley plays with your senses and your mind to display her perception in a disturbing manner.
Overall, this museum is the most personable, putting the audience come first and making sure they enjoy their experience.

Event 2 the Getty

The Getty museum is one of the most profound inspirational places, holding some memorable pieces of artistry I’ve had the privilege of viewing. Its’ displays of art are pivotal to the spectator viewing it and legendary in its message. Its’ location captures your attention and its uncluttered monochromatic exterior inspired me to visit. Conversely, the interior displayed a sundry of textures, colors and genres. They art was provocative in both vision and imagery suggesting to me that art has no boundaries.  It changed my perception of artistic standpoint can have unlimited expression. Full of elaborate masterpieces and complex works, the viewer is constantly stimulated.  To me the diversity the Getty has gives everyone an opportunity to decide what they like the best, letting their creative minds flowing.

I was drawn to the painting below because of its peaceful and tranquil appeal, reminding me of my own grandmother’s unstudied paintings.  They were extension of who she was and how she wanted to communicate her viewpoint, just as this artist has done.  Yet, there were other pieces that were characterized by bizarre ideas within an abstract result.  The longer I took the art in, the more it evolved for me.  What I have realized is that art is a broad definition and cannot be stereotyped.  It is as individual and varied at its creator.  Art can shout or it can whisper.  It can infuse passion, ignite anger or evoke happiness.

Event 1 Fowler Museum

Visiting the Fowler museum here on the campus at UCLA has profoundly suggested that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.  Vivan Sundaram achieves this idea well with her unique eye for art, taking the ordinary, things you would never think of, and transforming them into the extraordinary.  The art is an exploration into something deep and unique.  Within the “Making Strange” section   The piece that caught my eye was a sculpture where the woman was wearing tubes from bike tires. It spoke to my childhood as I grew up riding bikes and never would have related nor fathomed bicycle tire tubes as an article of clothing. The inspiration of the artists’ motivation brings about creativeness within the spectator. However, Sundaram ‘s vision and innovativeness is not as any artist I’ve seen.  Her ability to envision beyond the typical mind, seeing what others may not. Notwithstanding, her success within her art has resulted in this inspiring work being showcased at the prestigious and respected Fowler museum.  Beyond his works in the United States he studied abroad in Baroda and showcased his work all around the world, displaying his talents through his esteemed paintings and art forms. This successful artist has brought his art to a different level and will be studies and explored by many new artists and the well known throughout the industry.
of the museum where her art is held, she has a variety of pieces portraying human body parts along with clothing identified from discarded objects.

week 9

Visual arts has always been on the cutting edge of meager cultural. Within the story telling they push the boundaries of space travel and technology. Movies such as gravity offer a creative illustration of real life science.  Space movies indulge our imaginations as we reflect to the outer limits prompting our own creativity and inventiveness. Our minds conjure thoughts about what may exist beyond what we see, and movie art continually pushes the limits of these imageries.  Development of places like the International Space Station began from this.  The international space station combines the arts of science, technology, and the concept of nanotechnology.

The international space station is one of NASA’s the most powerful development, as it will further develop technology and robotics.  The leading research now in space expiration is nanotechnology, making big things small. According to research nanotechnology could lead to robots you can hold on your fingertips, a new evolution of self -healing space suits and many other devises. The innovation of nanotechnology beginning with space exploration will eventually have an impact on society, both economically and culturally.    There is further research on how nanotechnology could produce products that will be able to be used for advances in the medical field, and computer science technology.
